Chickens Suffer for the Egg Industry
At Miyapo eggs farms, workers were seen painfully twisting chickens’ wings before dropping them from the second floor of a building. Other birds were stuffed into plastic bags and left to suffocate to death.
Injured chickens were crammed into cages so small that they couldn’t even spread their wings. Stressed birds had pulled out their own feathers, and some were suffering from prolapsed vents, a painful condition caused by excessive egg-laying. Others endured a prolonged death after becoming entangled in the wire mesh of their cages. Surviving hens were forced to live with their decomposing cagemates.
PETA is urging Kewpie to stop supporting cruelty to chickens by switching to an entirely egg-free mayonnaise line.
Last month, PETA released similar video footage showing rampant abuse and neglect on a farm belonging to ISE Foods, Japan’s largest egg producer, which is certified to sell eggs at the Tokyo Olympics.
Help Chickens by Breaking Free From Cruelty
Cruelty is pervasive in the egg industry, which treats animals as commodities instead of as living, feeling beings.
There’s no need to eat eggs or chicken flesh or anything else that’s stolen from animals. Restaurants, stores, and cafeterias everywhere offer tasty vegan options, making it easier than ever to leave eggs and other cruelly produced foods off your plate.
Will you help hens by refusing to buy their eggs and flesh?
