Up to half of the hundreds of dogs forced to run approximately 1,600 kilometers through the Alaskan wilderness in this year’s deadly Iditarod may not reach the finish line due to exhaustion, illness, injury, or even death. Most who survive the treacherous race will face a lifetime of suffering, pain, and deprivation at the end of a chain in a musher’s “dog yard,” and some dogs who are deemed “unfit” by the industry may be shot or bludgeoned to death.
Please, help PETA do even more to protect dogs and other animals from such misery by making a generous gift today.
